Origins of the conflict

The war has its origins in the enmity between House Constantinus and House Delandi that was brewing in the years leading up to the conflict. Emperor Ehno Delandi levied massive taxes on House Constantinus' geology operations, causing House Constantinus severe financial losses. Moreover, House Delandi launched a massive militarisation campaign, constructing fortresses on important Constantinian mining colonies and initiating a large recruitment drive. This was interpreted by House Constantinus to be a threatening gesture. As a result, House Constantinus withheld the payment of taxes to the throne. Since the Emperor has also exempted himself from paying taxes long ago, no one is actually paying taxes and planetary officials soon found themselves lacking the funds the carry out their operations. The planets of the Empire were soon afflicted by many calamities. Many planets degenerated into chaos and anarchy due to the inability of planetary officials to fund peacekeeping operations, and others were struck by economic recession. The rising crime rate primarily affected House Constantinus' mining colonies due to their large population of workers and the local authorities inability to carry out policing. House Constantinus refused to pay taxes until the tax rates were lowered to an acceptable level and all Delandi fortresses on Constantinian mining colonies were dismantled. The Emperor refused to back down, and crime rate continued to rise unchecked. Eventually, House Constantinus declared war, citing the Emperor's incompetence as the reason.

The War

The war was over in less than a month. House Constantinus enjoyed an overwhelming numerical superiority which allowed them to take House Delandi's strongholds on Elnath, Dabih 13 and Acubens 7 in a lightning campaign. House Constantinus suffered insignificant casualties compared to House Delandi, whose military might was completely vanquished.

The Great Purge

After the siege of Dabih 13, Constantinian legions seized the Imperial capital and declared Baron Dominic the Emperor. Initially, House Constantinus only targeted military fortifications and did not attack civilian facilities. After the last Delandi stronghold on Dabih 13 was destroyed, Emperor Dominic offered House Delandi peace on the condition that Ehno Delandi abandons all claim to the Imperial throne and recognises Constantinian suzerainty. The offer of peace was rejected and Emperor Dominic launched the Great Purge, in which all Delandi civilian facilities were destroyed. In a few days the Delandi dynasty was completely vanquished and all traces of their existence wiped out.
