House Background

House Colar is known for its introversion, scholasticism, occult practices, lasciviousness, courtesy and beauty. They generally have long legs, sharp noses, smooth alabaster skin and exceptionally vivid eyes. The house can trace its ancestry back 24 generations from the current Sultana, Delwen Colar, to Persephone and Faustus. It is known that the name Colar was created in homage to the deity Col whom Faustus learned of through his archaeological expeditions. It is also known that the maiden name of Persephone is Foster and that she was a physicist, but little is known of Faustus before his marriage. The first Sultana was their daughter Cleopatra who's half brother Easter went on to found the Eastermire Clan that has loyally served and intermarried with House Colar for generations.

The House's traditional home is on Tegmine though they have a cadet branch on Menkent. Though the house is too involved in the religious affairs of Cultus Col to have true ethnic identity they are decended from the Thavic People.

Legend has it that Faustus actually met Col and that they made a deal. “That the children of his line would be youthful and powerful for all of their days in exchange for bering its offspring.” This seems to at least have some truth to it as all members of House Colar are born with a symbiote that upon their death will hatch into a Child of Col. This gives them several advantadges inclunding maturity without age, heightened strength, speed and senses, along with improved healing that leaves them scarless, and are harder to kill. However this has a disadvantage as well, they need to consume blood to satisfy the symbiote which will eventually hatch.

There have been twenty Sultanas and two Sultans. It is not known why the traditional line of succession has had a female preferance but it is commonly believed to have something to do with Easter being a bastard and Cleopatra being born in wedlock, though it may also have something to do with their symbiotes feeding off menstrual blood. Aphrodite II is known to have ruled a planet wide Sultanate at some point believed to be either on Tegmine or Menkent, though this is not certain. Its is rumored that before Aphrodite II gained control of a legitimate territory that the title of Sultana merely signaled a leadership position in a sorority. Utimately the Sultanate was destroyed by a succession crisis after Marius Colar had himself coronated, and the Eastermire Clan declared themselves the rulers due to a direct female line from Athena Colar through her second daughter Alexa. Marius claimed primogeniture came before matrilinal descent and so the feud continued until a Sarah Foster II married Marius and gave birth to Venus, giving his line a stronger claim due to direct descent from the ancestral family of Persephone. However the damage was done and the domain ruled by House Colar for four generations fell into the hands of other galactic powers, such as House Menk. Venus was left to return the family to its roots as scholars and scientist.

The pursuit of sciences commenced by Sultana Venus Colar eventually lead the house into the technology industry where they specialized in robotics. They came up with the popular line of robotic toys the Teddybear Playfriends. Unfortunatelly one of them malfunctioned and killed Aerion Colar the son of Margarita and her consort, Fyodor. However this inspired the Sultana's cousin Constantine to produce the Teddybear Warfriend line of robotic soldiers which cemented House Colar's position in the galaxy.

After the Mirabel Colar was killed in a coup by House Mariendorf, and Margarita was assassinated Delwen laid accusations against Lord Ruben Mariendorf and Overlord Amos Halaku, of both treason and murder. She is said to have vowed. “Never Again” The resulting war carried on until Emperor Ezekiel Luxerat and Sister Chloe Suzumiya drove Houses Colar and O'Raghallaigh from their alliance, and the Kincaids into hiding destroying the Lions of the Empire. The family temporarily allied itself with Houses Luxerat and Serpentis hoping to maintain peace so that something like that couldn't happen again. Mistess Hammal soon founded the Greys however and the Sultana brought the house into that alliance along their former allies the O'Raghallaighs and House Gaigalos.

The House was latter involved in further conflicts with the Temple of Mota first splitting allegiance with House O'Raghallaigh over a Hammal military operation against House Halaku and the ironically saving many of them from the Mota Killer terrorist organization. In time Sultana Delwen Colar would restore the House to its former glory and become a Warden of the Empire. As Warden she would reform the court system, planetary finance and focus on fief bassed improvement. She would be one of the competitors to the Imperial Regency and ultimately attempted to be recognized as the imperial successor to House Luxerat through her daughter, Ekaterina Colar. But in the end she endorsed her ally Lord Gaigalos as Regent and the Luxerats reconnected with the galaxy. After this the House wrote and backed the Galactic Reform Act hoping to avoid leaderlessness again as well as bringing a balance of power into galactic affairs.

The pursuit of balance proved to fail thanks to the Calamity. Even worse one of the surrender conditions was abandoning their sacred duty to pursue the sciences by shutting down Colar Industries and Technologies.

Though in time this restriction would be lifted by Emperor Ezekiel Luxerat. Though Colar industries and Technologies would be restored they never regained their old market share and focused primarily on research. Additionally Delwen Colar was elected as the second Shogun, leading the House to greater glory then it had before the Calamity.

Swords and Pentacles Society

This ancient society shrouded in mystery and ritual is rumored to include many of the rich and powerful as initiated members. They meet yearly in their chief library on Tegmine to share secrets, conduct arcane ceremonies and set their hidden agenda. They have been long connected with many of the more arcane ongoings of House Colar and especially with Cultus Col. They have been responsible for recovering much of the technology possessed by former House Levantes. They have recently organized in the fields of private investigation and education. They are said to be descended from the same sorority that spawned the title of Sultana in the first place.

Vitality Party

The Vitality Party was founded by House Colar after it announced its intention to run a candidate for the Shogunate. It is commited to the revitalization of Baade, in particular the economy.

Economic Booms Under Vitality Party Rule: 22

Military

The Teddybear Warfriends make up the bulk of House Colar's army. They are robots designed to look like large teddybears. They were modeled after the more benign Teddybear Playfriends after one of them malfunctioned and killed Aerion Colar. They are equipped with laser eyes, smart rockets, gatling shotguns that fire nanobot bullets, bombs for self-destruct, irradiators, electromagnetic pulse and they breath fire. They were recently upgraded to include personal force fields and invisifur. Now with jet packs.

In addition to the Teddybear Warfriends House Colar uses a diverse array of robotic weapons. Prominant examples include the Helibots and Tankbots.

The human military serving the house primarily consist of Naval personal to opperate starships and repair the robots deployed. However their is a small group of soldiers known as the Greyfox Guard that protect the dynasty and lead special operations. The Greyfoxes are injected with a biochemical stimulant produced by Col Hounds to enhance their abilities and cooperation.

Beyond the Greyfox Guard there is the Redfox Guard. The Redfoxes differ from the Greyfoxes in that they are all members of House Colar and Clan Eastermire. Though they are rarely put on the front line the House does believe in discipline and the ability to protect oneself. They do however often have command stations in the Colar military system.

Through its deal with Col the House has gained resources that many other houses don't possess or can't control. These include various types of spirits and technologies along with zombies and the dreaded Col Hounds.

Castle d'Colar

Rising from the sea Castle d'Colar overlooks the Shallow Sea. It uses sculpture, holographs, marine and botanical life as art and structure. The entire building is covered in prescious stones and metals. All this conceils a foundation that can withstand the most brutal assults and protects the Houses Seneschal, an artificially intelligent computer. Most of the household consist of the Colars and their kin, though a Child of Col can occassionaly be seen here. There is a unnerving and bizzare layout to the palace, with stairs and doors leading to ceilings and walls, artificial gravity keeping some rooms upside down and sideways. Some of the less traveled areas of the castle contain a far more morbid decor with skulls and bones built into the walls and rotted corpses in tanks. Many mistake it for a holograph but there is one tank that houses the cadaver of a boy whose body is said always face observer or observers with his pure white eyes allways staring at you. No wonder there are rumors of hauntings. The age and the origin of the cadavers is unknown.

Clan Eastermire

The bastard line of House Colar. They are descended from Easter Colar who had over a hundred children with his many wives. They generally are administrative assistants, spies and household guards to their parent house. They have intermarried with the Colars on many occassions.

The Restored Sultanate

The Sultanate consist of Tegmine, Sabik, Cebalrai 13, Benetas, Menkab, Horizon, Grumium Australis, Ancha, Avior Borealis and Alphecca. These planets where granted to House Colar as a fief by the Council of Wardens and Emperor Ezekiel Luxerat. Ancient history and archaelogical discoveries indicate that some of these planets were part of the original sovereign territory held by the Sultana's of old, though the Restored Sultanate is fully mediatized.
