Capricorn tips for new players

This page is a help file for the Capricorn Galaxy. For a generalized game help for new players, you should check the Newbie Guide.

Help for New Players

There are several ways in which Houses recently risen to nobility can ask for support.

  • financial support - It is allowed, and even advised, to ask established noble houses for monetary support. Most of the more powerful houses will easily agree to support you.
  • Sharing technological development - Technology is an important resource, and we strongly advise to ask every player operating technology and research facilities for a share in their operations. this can be done through the embassy, where you can send agreement offers and messages.
  • Alliances - As a new House, you can either join an existing alliance, or found your own. The former is easiest, the latter puts you into a higher position, namely, that of the founder and leader. However, there are no guarantees that your alliance will grow.
  • Good advice - One of the best things to be gotten. You can ask any of the established houses for advice on economy, how to invest your solars best, how to deal with politics, what business would be most lucrative, and many, many more things. If you ever find yourself asking a difficult question, we are here to help you.

Prizefighting Ethics

There is an unofficial rulebook concerning the ethics of prizefighting:

  • That a formal invitation to fight be sent to the duelist you wish to fight before actually ordering the fight to happen. Such an invitation can be made by PM or forum post.
  • That a duelist should not challenge someone who recently lost to them. Give them a chance to fight other people.
  • That a duelist should be allowed to turn down a fight if the opponent far outmatches his skill level. (Turn down in words, at least….)

All prize fighters are expected to know and follow these guidelines. If any prize fighter does not follow these guidelines, it is up to the challenged house to decide what to do about the breach of honour. There is no mechanical punishment for breaking these guidelines, in game terms, except for any punishment the offended party wishes to carry out themselves.

This set of rules is a gentleman's agreement which ought to be kept, even if it cannot be enforced. Please keep to these guidelines. Anonymous Posting

These houses have volunteered to do anonymous posting. If you want any anonymous communications, contact one of these:
